Ruddy Shelduck, (Tadorna ferruginea)

A declining European breeding bird, although populations in Asia seem stable. Most if not all of the British records are of escaped birds or birds that have originated from the feral populations in the Netherlands.

A total of 8 individuals have been noted in the Camel Estuary area.

1942 – 1 at Dinham Flats November 15th to 17th.

1972 – 5 on the estuary July 16th.

1987 – 1 on the estuary January 14th/15th, arrived with a large influx of Shelduck.

2013 – 1 at Dinham Flats March 19th.
