Long-billed Dowitcher (Limnodromus scolopaceus)

A medium sized, long-billed wader, breeding in the tundra region of North America and eastern Siberia; wintering in southern North American and Central America. Annual vagrant to Western Europe and the British Isles.

The Camel Estuary, surprisingly has only had a single accepted record up to the end of 2012.

2013 – 1 at Amble Marshes 25th August.

[1990 – 1 in Little Petherick Creek 13th October was found not proven by BBRC]

1986 – 1 summer plumaged adult arrived, with Ruff and Greenshank, at Pinkson Creek on 9th August and remained around the estuary until 19th April 1987.
