Colin Selway saw and photographed a large Great Black-backed Gull hybrid on the Amble Marshes on 8th February 2016. The birds was with Great Black-backed Gulls and was the same size and structure but was easy to pick out due to a slightly shorter, bright yellow/orange bill and yellow legs. Advertisements

Pentire/Rumps; A colour ringed, (first winter), Great Black-Backed Gull around this morning, (two black darvic type rings, one on each tarsus with 5 white letters/numbers possibly Finnish?), plus one Glaucous Gull, 1 Short-eared Owl, 1 Great Northern Diver, 110+ Goldfinch, 60+ Linnet, 60+ Skylark and 2 Sparrowhawk.
